1st Gocco Print Drawing

Yurt
Gocco print (silkscreen), 2001 or so

This was inspired by a visit to a Kazakh family's yurt in an oasis town somewhere along the silk road. I don't remember the exact town, but was probably around Turpan, Xinjiang, Chinese Central Asia. I visited the area in 2000.

I'll be giving away several Gocco prints over the next few months, this is the 1st of the bunch. To enter into the drawing, leave a comment to this entry. I'll cover 1st class shipping within the US. If you're overseas, or would prefer another method of shipping, we can discuss.

I'd be curious to know just exactly what this gocco printing is all about. It's quite beautiful.

I love the depth and deep color. You continue to inspire me on what the gocco can do.

I would so love to have this print! Our son was born in Kaz - your print evokes such strong emotions for me. We brought home some small felt yurt toys for him, as well as two "Dream Quilts" that were/are traditionally hung up to line the inside walls of the yurts (also a large rug we bought has loops and was hung similarly).
Thanks for the chance to win!

I love how the color and design make the print appear 3D. It makes me think of bridges and connections, some close, some distant. Thank you for sharing your beautiful, intricate, art work.

Hi everyone,

There were 21 entries all together, from various sites (fb, g+, here). I put all the entries in a pool, and the computer randomly picked one. The winner was Patty H; she entered her comment on fb. There will be another drawing beginning of August. Thank you all for playing!

And when I was putting the names in, I noticed that all of you had a name that ended with a K (even Michael5000, which in my book is always M5K). Isn't that somethin'...

And Kevynne Layne had her vote counted over on fb, so although her name didn't end with a K but rather started with a K, it all still works.

Yeah, I get excited about weird stuff like that.

Love this artwork. It's much more beautiful than the current Zentangles. It would be a lovely addition to my studio wall that has plenty of open space. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.

Christine, thank you so much for your comment. I don't know if you noticed, but the drawing happened on Tuesday, July 3. I will be posting another print for a drawing around August 1, so check back then. Thank you!

That's OK. It's still beautiful! I'm a little behind on checking my mail!
