MiT, 1st senior, day 4

Hey, this was a successful day with my senior #1! This was our watercolor session, and she really seemed to have enjoyed herself. (She kept on saying so! And based on past experience, she certainly would've made it clear to me if she was not having a good time.)

So we're meeting again for more watercolor sessions. I'll scan those in and print them out on my inkjet printer to include in the book! See this entry for my last day with senior #1.

Worked on the Portland Open Studios site some more; started to fill in the About page.

Good on you for hanging in! It can take ages to establish rapport with people who are losing their memory. Not surprising when you consider how anxiety-provoking it must be. This is such a lovely project you are doing, I will be following it with great interest. (I am a former occupational therapist and a current artist and worked using art as therapy). Good luck!

gl -- yes, it's starting to look that way!

amanda -- if you ever have suggestions for me on how to work with the elderly, please let me know. Or if you see that I'm going about something the wrong way, let me know too! Thanks so much for your encouragement.

It sounds like you are going really well. I think the best thing you can offer is a calm and accepting space, so people can feel valued and safe. I'm looking forward to hearing about the next session. Warm wishes!
